We had another interesting net tonight with 8 check-ins plus net control Ken, KA6KEN. Tonight’s topics included:

  • When hanging a G5RV antenna can a steel mast be used or is wood or other material recommended? (Hint: Using a steel mast with some sort of stand-off to keep the ladder line away from the pole a fair distance would work).
  • Ken’s experience with the North American SSB Sprint contest last weekend.

Tune in to the SBARC TM&E Net every Thursday at 8:00 PM local (2000 Hrs) and see what interesting ham radio questions might arise or ask some of your own! All club members and visitors are encouraged to check in to the net each week.

Heathkit TC2 Tube Checker

Heathkit TC2 Tube Checker: Emission-only tube tester works and is in good condition. Silk-screened lettering is intact, clean, and legible. Screw heads are tarnished.  Scroll chart works, as does chart backlighting as shown in the photo.  The meter cover has no cracks. The tester includes an adapter for specialty 10 pin, Nuvistor, and Compactron tubes.  The only issue found was the line setting calibration could not be turned down low enough.  Google shows this is a common problem due to high line voltage, and there are suggestions on how to fix this. $50 Picture 1 / Picture 2 / Picture 3
