General Club Meeting January 19, 2024

Our first meeting of 2024 will feature a presentation by Warren KN6ZZI. Warren is a relatively new ham and our newest board member. Warrens main interest in amateur radio was HF operation. A scientist by profession, Warren leveraged his analytical skills to research and build a new station from the ground up. With no experience in amateur radio, he identified his goals and utilized the experience of other club members and online resources to build a very capable station capable of working the world. It is not often that we are able to hear about station building from someone with Warrens unique perspective. Stations often take years to come together, but Warren did it in a couple of short months. SBARC/WB6OBB Annual Christmas Party

You are invited to the annual SBARC/WB6OBB Christmas Party. We will be holding this event on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Rusty’s Pizza Parlor location at 5934 Calle Real near the Walgreen’s Pharmacy on the mountain side of Calle Real east of Fairview. This is a BYOP (Buy your own pizza) event and please bring a wrapped gag gift for the gift exchange! These parties are usually well attended so this is a chance to visit with a lot of people whom you might not see during the year. Stop by for a few minutes, or stay for the whole event! General Club Meeting – June 18th, 2021

SBARC repeater sites offer our members a lot of choices in how we communicate with each other. When we have a QSO with another ham or participate in a net, it seems so simple – all we need to do is press the PTT button. Right? Well, there is a lot more to it than that. Many of our members, especially new ones, have no idea of the complexity and effort required to get our signals from point A to point B. Join us for a virtual tour of our repeater sites and see the amazing level of sophistication we have available to us. You’ll be surprised at the quality of workmanship, the equipment, and the huge number of related parts that go into running just one site. And we have three, all linked together. We’ll also talk about all the individual repeaters we have available, what they are used for, and leave plenty of time for questions.
