Santa Barbara Amateur Radio Club
Santa Cruz Island Repeater
by Helicopter, October 2000

Pass Anacapa Island

Early morning helicopter flight to Santa Cruz Island, as we pass by Anacapa Island. The location of the Alaska Airlines crash site is near the left fore ground.

The Channel Islands are just off shore the central California coastline. They are part of the Channel Islands National Park. The Island is partly managed by the Nature Conservancy with limited public access.

The largest island in the group is Santa Cruz Island. The Santa Barbara Amateur Radio Club has maintained an emergency services repeater (K6TZ) on the island for many years under an agreement with Dr. Carey Stanton (now deceased) who owned two-thirds of the island.
