San Fernando Rey Trail Riding Competition
November 1999

On November 6, 1999, SBARC assisted the Santa Ynez ARES group in providing event communications for the San Fernando Rey Trail Riding Competition. John Kendall (KO6JW), who was coordinating the communications, took a wrong turn and demonstrated the truth of the axiom that "Four wheel drive helps you get stuck in worse places."

Mack Stanton took the pictures and provided extensive encouragement and suggestions during the 5-hour effort to extricate the vehicle.

It was finally pulled out by Mike Goldsworthy (son of SBARC's Jack Goldsworthy, KA6EPF) skillfully using a Jeep Cherokee and a tow strap.
