Field Day

Field Day 2007 Information

Setup: Friday, June 22, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Operate: Saturday, June 23, 11:00 AM to Sunday, June 24 11:00 AM

Field Day BBQ: Sunday, June 24, 3:00 PM

Field Day 2007 will be held Friday, June 22 through Sunday, June 24. The location is Christ Lutheran Church Field at the corner of Covington Way and Los Carneros. Getting to this site is very easy. Just take 101 and exit at Los Carneros Road. The Field Day location is just three-quarters of a mile north of the freeway on Los Carneros. This site is close to the Goleta Depot and Stow House and is very visible to the public.
SBARC will operate as a 2A club station this year. We will have two HF stations operating during the entire 24-hour period. The club’s communication van and the rover van will be used for the stations.

Setup will be from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM Friday afternoon. Since we will be using the antenna mast on each vehicle, setup will not require much work. We will not need to set up large antenna towers this year. Setup should only take a couple hours. We should have plenty of time for some casual contacts Friday afternoon. A pre-Field Day no host pizza dinner will be held Friday at 6 PM.

Field Day operations will start Saturday morning at 11:00 AM. Operators of all skill levels are invited to participate this year. Technician license holders and unlicensed individuals may operate under the supervision of a qualified control operator. Propagation conditions are expected to be about the same as last year. We can expect the 20 Meter band to be crowded during the day with some possible openings on 15 Meters. Nighttime operation will shift to 40 and then to 80 Meters.

A post Field Day and club summertime BBQ will begin Sunday afternoon at 3:00 PM. All club members and guests are invited to the BBQ.

The club needs:

  • Operators and loggers
  • Help with setup and put-away
  • Greeters for visitors
  • Cooks
  • Volunteers for ham radio demonstrations (satellite, ATV, APPS, slow-scan, formal message traffic, etc)
  • Tables and chairs
